Lafayette, Ind. – Homestead Resources a local nonprofit broke ground on a new affordable housing development in August of last year and in December they will host a Grand Opening of the Jeffersonian, a senior apartment community. The Jeffersonian is a Section 42 tax credit project with 50 units of affordable senior housing including 32 one-bedroom units and 18 two-bedroom units.
Marie Morse, Executive Director of Homestead Resources said, “We are looking forward to welcoming the community on December 2nd from 3-5pm to the Grand Opening of the building. We will be providing tours, inviting remarks from our development partners that supported the project, as well as providing light refreshments. We hope the community will celebrate with us as this affordable housing development will be home to 50 seniors in our community very soon.”
The Jeffersonian was developed on land that previously housed the Jefferson High School Gymnasium and was most recently owned by Homestead Resources and Stenz Development Corporation. ALK Development served as the co-developer on the project. Homestead Resources contracts with Stenz Management Company for onsite property management for both of their apartment communities providing synergy in oversight as Stenz is also the property management firm for the Jeff Centre Senior Apartments which is adjacent to the Jeffersonian.
The Jeffersonian features amenity rooms on every floor, a large community room for residents and community meetings and gatherings, handicap accessible units and much more. The development had a waiting list of over 100 seniors before it began pre-leasing. Over half of the units have already been leased with some residents moving into the building as early as the end of the month. Resident inquiries should be directed to Kandy Gleason at kgleason@stenzcorp.com.
The public is welcome to attend the Grand Opening ceremony that will take place December 2nd, 2025 from 3-5pm with scheduled remarks promptly starting at 4pm. RSVP’s can be sent to morgan@homestead-resources.org.
