Homestead Resources, a local nonprofit housing organization, was awarded Tax Credits to rehabilitate a multifamily rental property located in Lafayette, Indiana. The organization owns and operates two rental communities in Lafayette including the Jeffersonian and the Historic Jeff Senior Centre. The organization was selected to receive a 9% Low Income Housing Tax Credit award from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) through a competitive process.

Homestead Resources a local nonprofit broke ground on a new affordable housing development in August of last year and in December they will host a Grand Opening of the Jeffersonian, a senior apartment community. The Jeffersonian is a Section 42 tax credit project with 50 units of affordable senior housing including 32 one-bedroom units and 18 two-bedroom units.

Serving northwest Indiana since 1983, Homestead Resources is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Hoosiers with affordable housing, financial education and housing counseling. With services covering 10 counties across northwest Indiana, this organization strives to “increase homeownership, maintain homeownership where it already exists and educate families on attaining safe, quality and stable housing.”

The Lafayette community will be home to a new affordable housing development, the Jeffersonian. Homestead Resources, a local non-profit housing organization, is breaking ground on the new development next week. The Jeffersonian will include 50 units of affordable housing designated for seniors 55+ that will include one- and two-bedroom units. “We must provide housing that is attainable for all income levels, including seniors on restricted incomes. Providing this stability and allowing seniors to remain independent is something that everyone can rally behind,” said Andrea Kent, President and Founder, ALK Development.
