Lafayette, Ind. – Homestead Resources, a local nonprofit housing organization serving 10 counties throughout the Greater Lafayette region, received a major gift of $500,000 from North Central Health Services Inc. The funds will be used to support the organization’s capital campaign goal of raising $1.3 million to acquire, rehabilitate, and move into a new office building in Lafayette, Indiana.
Homestead Resources provides services to over 2,000 individuals and families a year through its affordable housing counseling, education programs, direct assistance, foreclosure prevention programs, and lending services. The organization provides support for renters, homebuyers and homeowners to ensure they have access to affordable housing resources. The organization also operates the Community Loan Center of Central Indiana and partners with over 60 employers providing access to affordable small dollar consumer loans to over 600 partner employees a year. Homestead Resources has outgrown its current office space and is eager to serve more families and partners in a more visible office location within the community.
The organization has raised over $555,000 towards its capital campaign goal that they announced at its annual meeting and luncheon on June 26, 2025. Morgan Hoover, Associate Executive Director of Philanthropy and Marketing said, “The North Central Health Services (NCHS) grant catapults our fundraising efforts, and we believe it will help leverage other community resources as we continue to raise funds for our capital campaign.”
Hoover said, “This is the first capital campaign for the organization. We have identified a building and conducted an appraisal, inspection, and received construction bids. Our board of directors and management team is fully committed to making this a priority as we know first-hand that the need for affordable housing programs and services continues to rapidly increase. We want to ensure that families have access to these services for years to come.”
