Homestead Resources was established in 1983 to address the housing needs of individuals and families with low and moderate incomes throughout ten counties across northwestern Indiana. For nearly 42 years, Homestead Resources has provided housing counseling and financial education services to thousands of individuals and families in Benton, Boone, Carroll, Clinton, Fountain, Montgomery, Putnam, Tippecanoe, Warren, and White counties. We also serve families across the state through specialized program offerings. Homestead Resources is a HUD-certified Housing Counseling Agency offering education and counseling services to renters and homeowners regardless of income.
Homestead Resources is certified by the U.S. Department of Treasury as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) and governed by a 15-member volunteer Board of Directors, with a variety of professional expertise and careers in government, civic and community, private sector industry, as well as program participants.
Our vision for the communities we serve is that all individuals and families will be financially educated regarding housing, gain the knowledge and skills to manage financial assets, have access to affordable housing and live in safe, well-maintained neighborhoods.
Our programs promote affordable housing and strong neighborhoods populated by residents who have the tools needed to live quality lives and who contribute positively to their communities. We ensure that families are given the financial knowledge they need to achieve and maintain affordable housing. Our objective is to increase homeownership, maintain homeownership where it already exists, and educate families on attaining safe, quality, and stable housing.
